It’s all about the view at the #goldengirlscondo

Through a short sale, we purchased a condo located in a mid-century modern high-rise building right on the beach in Lynn, MA. When we first saw the home, we fell in love with the ocean view and the layout and couldn't wait to tackle this project and transform the dingy, dated unit into a colorful, sun-filled space. The unit's floor plan was reminiscent of a luxury hotel suite, with two bedrooms and bathrooms separated by a spacious living area and a small enclosed kitchen space.

Our changes to the living area were mostly cosmetic—we painted the walls with a fresh coat of white paint to make the existing black metal windows stand out. We also removed the old bookshelves, creating a minimalist ledge finished with Baltic birch plywood. For a clean, modern look, we finished the cement floors with a bright white epoxy coating and chose to forgo traditional baseboards.

The transformation in the kitchen was a bit more dramatic! We opened up the wall between the kitchen and living area to create a better flow and maximize the view, but left the existing coat closet for storage. This also allowed space for a small dining area directly off the kitchen.

We simplified the cabinet layout, opting for a classic L-shape, and used IKEA cabinet boxes with Semihandmade fronts in the Agave Slab style. For the backsplash, we selected a colorful terrazzo-inspired porcelain tile and we incorporated gold accents through the cabinet pulls and faucet.

These simple changes modernized the space, making it feel much more open and airy, while also maximizing the waterfront view!
