A classic bathroom design for the #sisterhouse

When we purchased the #sisterhouse, it only had one bathroom, which was located on the second floor. The bathroom had last been remodeled in the 1960s and featured a powder blue bathtub, vanity, and toilet. Personally, we loved the mod look, but the fixtures were starting to rust after 60 years and the plumbing needed to be updated. When redesigning the bathroom, our goal was to bring back classic finishes that tied in with the home's Craftsman roots.

To achieve this, we used large scale black hexagon tile on the floor and white subway tile on the shower walls, which we continued halfway up along perimeter walls. For a bit of modern contrast, we painted the walls charcoal gray and used black metal plumbing fixtures.

We introduced a bit of warmth to the space with a solid pine vanity and swapped out the handles for matte black bin pulls. We finished the vanity with a sleek rectangular undermount sink and gray quartzite countertop. Industrial-inspired brass and white sconces flank a brass rectangular mirror with rounded corners.

We added white board and batten style trim to the tub's side apron and a white quartz ledge to give the tub more character and a custom feel.
