A #witchymodernhouse spa

Since the #witchymodernhouse included only one full bathroom, we wanted to make this space as spa-like and luxurious as possible.

An oversized walk-in shower served as the focal point of this bathroom design. We carried the star pattern cement tile used on the floor of the bathroom into the shower itself to make the room feel spacious and cohesive. Tile installers generally prefer small mosaic tiles for shower floors, as they can easily be manipulated to conform to the pitch of the floor, but we were adamant about using these 8" square tiles. Our talented tile installer laboriously cut the tiles surrounding the shower drain into a star pattern in order to achieve proper drainage.

Because the pattern of the floor tile was so bold, we kept it simple for the shower walls, opting for a matte white "kitkat" style porcelain tile stacked in a vertical grid pattern. Another striking design element of this shower was a floating bench cantilevered off the back wall.

On the opposite side of the bathroom, a large freestanding soaking tub was framed beneath the window. For a modern look, we used matte black plumbing fixtures throughout the bathroom, including a floor mounted tub filler.

As the bathroom featured a lot of black and white, we selected a wood vanity to add some warmth and texture to the space. The sloped ceilings proved to be a bit of a challenge when it came to the mirrors and lighting, but we were able to squeeze in a circular brass mirror flanked by black and gold sconces.

With its simple black and white color scheme, this bathroom has a modern, minimalist feel that is warm and inviting at the same time. The generous footprint of the space allowed us to incorporate both a walk in shower and a freestanding tub, making for one a luxurious bathroom!
